Here is an excerpt from a blog I wrote about what healing means to me and the philosophy of Compassionate Wisdom:
"...I've spent a lot of money on healers in my day. I've lain on my fair share of tables and relinquished my power to masters and healers expecting them to heal me, to save me from myself. It took me some time to realize that I had been given the wrong impression about what healing was and how to achieve it. I found far too many people willing to take my money, make me feel worse about myself, teach me nothing and perpetuate a feeling of helplessness..."

I've been asked why I do not offer weekend "animal communication" workshops for those who simply want to "communicate" with animals. I would like to share some more detailed insight about my personal healing journey in order to explain my perspective.
I have met a fair number of people, and have had personal experiences with many who offer "healing" and "animal communication," on my own healing journey.
Since my 2nd Near Death Experience in 2012, I have been able to see, sense and feel energy in very unique ways. It has been verified, time and again, that I somehow retained a direct connection to my Higher Self/Oversoul, the part of us that does not incarnate in a physical body. This has been both a blessing and a curse, as some would say.
This awareness guided me on a quest to understand numerous healing modalities and spiritual perspectives, and kept me on a continuous path to understanding what it meant to be in alignment with one's Higher Self/Oversoul and Soul Purpose.
Being able to see the energy systems of both people and animals also led me to keep searching for answers when the courses I was taking were not explaining everything I was seeing, the symbols and metaphors, and energetic shifts. To date, I have spent over 20,000 hours studying, attending workshops, gaining certifications, traveling and exposing myself to numerous perspectives.
I have since walked away from all certifications I have ever gotten. I NEVER use protocols and I, for the most part, do not do any type of "energy work" on any human or animal. I help people remember they can do it - themselves! For this reason, I did not become a "healer" when everyone I knew told me that I should, including just about all of the "healers" I was working with. I have studied many healing modalities, but honestly it was mostly out of curiosity, in an attempt to understand what I was seeing and meet a greater variety of people. I became certified to be able to begin my career with a foundation, to be able to say that I was "certified" in something.
From my perspective, and based on my personal experience, there is far too much disempowerment and learned helplessness being done to both people and animals by those with a limited understanding of our purpose, our energetic world, and how one can take on the karma of others through "healing" others without an elemnent of educationa and empowerment.
There truly seems to be an utter lack of concern for the genuine processes of unfolding human self-awareness and self-care, i.e. self-responsibility and individual sovereignty. The definition of healing has been distorted along with the notion that all "healers" are or should be wounded, which somehow enables those with any psychic or "healing" abilities to forego their own journey.
From my perspective, self-awareness and empowerment should be our number one concern. And, in my opinion, we should be well on our way to understading what the scope and breadth of "healing" someone else truly means before we hang out a shingle and start taking other people's money.
"Healing" has been distorted from "Healer as Teacher," or "One who helps us remember," to "I know what's wrong with you and I can fix you." If someone is doing "psychic surgery" on you, and you have absolutely no conscious idea what they're removing or how it got there, I can state with utter certainty that they are taking on your karma, and that is NOT good for you or them! In other words, if you are paying someone to heal you, then you are denying yourself the potential opportunity for increased growth and conscious awareness. I do not work like that, and I never have. It is not in alignment with my soul purpose as a Teacher, and it never was.
Years ago, I tried offering three day workshops for introductory "animal communication," and I found that most people could not even manage their own energy, ground themselves, had no idea what an energy system was, and were often not even communicating with the animals, but other beings in their energy field. When we aren't in our bodies, anyone can take up residence!
Additionally, when there is a lack of understanding and nurturing of psychic abilities, including the all too often misused --kitchen sink-- label of being "empathic," both people and animals can become gravely ill by taking on the energies of others released in a healing session.
In fact, this is one of the reasons many famous "channelers," poorly trained"shamans" and "healers" have become gravely ill, or left the business abruptly. And, unfortunately, a fair amount of animal illness is a result of the animals taking on human emotions out of a distorted sense of obligation, especially service dogs and horses in equine therapy programs. Animals are becoming entrained to human codependancy and it is a shame that we have allowed it to get this far.
Although this has probably always been the case, there is a unsettling rash of fascination with new "healing" modalities that seek to reduce our experience to being avatars in a video game, instead of honoring the choice of the soul to learn and grow in either a human or animal body. They seek to teach us to magically manifest, choose the timeline we want, and even get a great job. Heck, some of this stuff actually works, but at what consequence to your soul's journey?
I have chosen NOT to contribute to that paradigm, nor will I encourage others to violate the free will and soul journey of another being, be they human or animal.
And that is why I will not teach "animal communication" without the person first being educated in self-awareness, an understanding of, and ability to regulate their, their psychic abilities, and committed to a true healing journey. A journey to authentic alignment with their Higher Self/Oversoul.
To be certain, it is not the quick or easy path.
